Central Valley Birding Symposium 2018

The Central Valley Bird Club will be hosting the 22nd annual Central Valley Birding Symposium Nov. 15-18, 2018, at the Stockton Hilton Hotel in Stockton, CA. Kathy Fricker is an elementary school teacher and uses the Audubon Adventures program from the National Audubon Society in both her classroom curriculum and in her birding club. Legg Lake Field Trip

Legg Lake is a group of three lakes within the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in South El Monte. In addition to resident birds, we hope to see some winter visitors (ducks, sapsuckers, warblers). Legg Lake has a history of attracting some over-wintering vagrants so there are many possibilities. Meet at 7:00 AM in the parking lot off of Santa Anita Road (the free parking lot). This will be a morning walk - we will finish before mid-day.

December Program – Photo Sharing Night!

Many of our members are very fine amateur photographers. Our December general meeting is traditionally a photo share evening. Bring some of your favorite photos on a thumb drive or CD and Jay Oberholtzer will perform computer magic to put your picture on the big screen. When choosing your offerings, remember that we want the time to see everyone’s pictures, so limit accordingly. An all-day drive around Antelope Valley in search of winter hawks. Expect cold and wind.  Carpooling is suggested. Bring water and lunch.  We will leave the Whittier Community Center at 6:30 a.m. or meet at the Carl's Jr. at the K Avenue exit from the 14 Freeway. Larry Schmahl leads.
