April Program: Wonderful Woodpeckers

Valerie Sinex of the Wild Birds Unlimited store in Yorba Linda will give a presentation on Wonderful Woodpeckers. The Whittier Area Audubon general meeting and program will be held on at the Whittier Community Center. The program is free and light refreshments will be served.

Hansen Dam Field Trip

April 20

April's field trip will be to the Hansen Dam Recreational Center and Park. We hope to see the usual resident birds, some spring migrants as well as the some of the summer visitors. Bell's Vireos have already arrived and are singing their little hearts out. We will be leaving from the Whittier Community Center parking lot at 7:00 a.m. Much of the walking is out in the open so dress appropriately and bring a hat, sunblock and plenty of water…

City Nature Challenge Field Trip

We will visit a migrant trap in LA County to help with the City Nature Challenge. Morro Bay Overnighter

May 18 - May 19

Our May, 2019 Field Trip is a weekender to Morro Bay. The dates are Saturday, May 18 through Sunday, May 19, 2019. We will meet at the parking lot of the Twins Bay Inn (formerly Best Western El Rancho) at 2460 Main Street, Morro Bay 93442. Mount Pinos Field Trip

June 22

Mt. Pinos is a great place for montain species. Green-tailed Towhees, White-headed Woodpeckers, Creepers, Nuthatches, Chickadees, Stellars Jays and Mountain Quail are to be expected. California Condors are always a possibility. We will leave the Whittier Civic Center at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday June 22, 2019 for the drive to Frasier Park.
