Big Morongo Field Trip

May 20

Our May field trip will be to Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, which is located north of Palm Springs. We will convene in the parking lot of the Whittier Community Center and carpool/caravan, leaving at 6:00 am sharp. It’s close to a 2-hour drive, so we must leave promptly at 6:00. If you would rather meet us at Big Morongo, plan to rendezvous in the parking lot there at 8:00. Big Morongo is a great place for migrant flycatchers and warblers…

Saturday morning beginner bird walk Sycamore Canyon Trail, Whittier, off of Workman Mill Road. The trail is located adjacent to Rose Hills Cemetery gate 17, but note that the trail is not in the cemetery! The entrance to Sycamore Canyon is a driveway just southwest of the entrance to the cemetery.

Please join us at our Annual Potluck and Photo Sharing Night! Please note that the time is earlier than usual - 6:00 pm for the potluck. The photo sharing will begin around 7:00 pm. Mountain Birding

June 17

Plans are to wander along Angeles Crest Highway and pull out to see what birds are spending their summer in the San Gabriel Mountains.  If you are driving, you will need a National Forest Adventure Pass. Bring lunch and plenty of water. We will leave the Whittier Community Center parking lot at 6:00 am.  We should be back in Whittier around 4:00 pm. LA River Field Trip
