Julie Skoglund, Program Operations Manager of International Bird Rescue (IBR) will be presenting “The Plight of the Pelican” at the Whittier Area Audubon general meeting on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the Whittier Community Center. Beginning Bird Banding Workshop at Audubon Starr Ranch

Audubon California’s 4000-acre Starr Ranch Sanctuary in southeast Orange County invites you to our spring bird banding workshops for adults. Because of the specialized nature of these workshops, we are asking that only serious students and potential Starr Ranch bird banding volunteers attend. Join us for our beginner bird walk in Sycamore Canyon. Meet at the Sycamore Canyon trail head. The trail is located adjacent to Rose Hills Cemetery gate 17, but note that the trail is not in the cemetery! The entrance to Sycamore Canyon is a driveway just southwest of the entrance to the cemetery.

Carizzo Plain Overnighter Field Trip

The Carrizo Plain is about 100 air miles north of Los Angeles near the communities of Taft and Maricopa. The area is officially known as the Carrizo Plain National Monument. It is home to Pronghorn Antelope, Tule Elk and, of great interest to us, many species of birds. Whitewater Canyon Field Trip

April 21

Whitewater Preserve is a Wildlands Conservency Preserve located in the Whitewater River Canyon that drains the San Gorgonio mountain range. It is migration time and we are hoping to see warblers, tanagers, Bell's Vireo, Costa's Hummingbird and the flycatchers that have arrived or are passing through as well as the local resident birds.
