Birding Southern Ecuador.  Larry and Jennifer Schmahl share their recent experience traveling between four Jocotoco Foundation lodges that showcase several forest types from dry tropical deciduous to high Amazon basin rain forest. Bolsa Chica Field Trip

The January field trip will be to the Bolsa Chica wetlands in Huntington Beach. Bolsa Chica is a world-class birding spot. Expect waders, ducks, shorebirds, gulls, terns, raptors, and songbirds. We’ll meet at Whittier Community Center at 7:00 am to carpool and caravan. If you would rather meet there, expect us to rendezvous in the PCH parking lot around 7:45 am. Julie Skoglund, Program Operations Manager of International Bird Rescue (IBR) will be presenting “The Plight of the Pelican” at the Whittier Area Audubon general meeting on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the Whittier Community Center. Beginning Bird Banding Workshop at Audubon Starr Ranch

Audubon California’s 4000-acre Starr Ranch Sanctuary in southeast Orange County invites you to our spring bird banding workshops for adults. Because of the specialized nature of these workshops, we are asking that only serious students and potential Starr Ranch bird banding volunteers attend. Carizzo Plain Overnighter Field Trip

The Carrizo Plain is about 100 air miles north of Los Angeles near the communities of Taft and Maricopa. The area is officially known as the Carrizo Plain National Monument. It is home to Pronghorn Antelope, Tule Elk and, of great interest to us, many species of birds.
